About Patrick Merrell: Patrick is a professional puzzlemaker, cartoonist, writer, illustrator, and graphic designer who has been creating books for both kids and adults for many years. He’s a regular crossword contributor to The NY Times and the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament, as well the LA Times, NY Sun, Wall Street Journal, Scientific American, and MAD magazine (well, once, for their 50th anniversary issue). He’s also created custom-made crossword puzzles on commission for individuals and corporations, as well as thousands of illustrations, cartoons, greeting cards, posters, book covers, logo designs, and articles for a myriad of publishers, advertising agencies, national magazines, books, design firms, city agencies, and… well, you get the idea. In his spare time he’s a bicycle road racer and writes animated screenplays (not yet coming to a theater near you). He’s married with one beautiful daughter.

Great website, Patrick. I think I’ll be visiting it frequently, and always on Mondays, because I particularly love the Squares.
I’m currently taking a beginning course on web design, so I’m focusing on how web pages work. And I notice that the back button doesn’t work. I know I can always click on the home page button, but sometimes it’s much more convenient to use the back button.
Best wishes,
Doorbell

Pat,
This is great. I love Ashen and Noir. Did you struggle with other names… i.e Inky, Ebony etc.? I’ll be back every Monday!
